After speaking with Adam today, I took another pass at the size. Knowing that we can do the neck telescoping sequence in cuts helps a lot. The smallest version I dared put up yesterday, the 220, stood 12" tall. But smaller *is* better in this case. As much as I would like a roomy interior in which to stuff all my mechanisms and electronics, this toy has to look as if it could be store-bought. Wincing in pain, I did a version at 10 inches and one at 11 inches (click on either pic to see a larger version):

The 11 incher still looks small enough to be store-bought, and is apparently only a half-inch taller than Aibo. As you can see, I've included the eyebrow, eye, ear, and collar changes, and given an idea of how the jaw will open to accomodate the beer bottle.

However, the 10 incher is just too small a package to fit all the gubbins that have to go into it; as you can see, it may not even hold a beer bottle:

So, if no one has any objections, I am going to proceed with the 11 inch high version; a clear 5 or more inches shorter than the series I was trying to push yesterday.

Previous Progress:

The 250% Dog stands about 16" tall from floor to top of ears. The things we have to juggle are: If it's too big, it may not look store-bought. Or it just might look too big in scale with a human. If it isn't big enough, it will not be able to carry the bottle. If it's too small, the neck extension will be outrageous. That said, there are ways to seemingly minimize or maximize it's size during photography and perspective, as we've done so many times with the Bud Frogs. One way, if it seems to be getting too big, is to force the perspective by playing him away from the actor, and the actor operates it by remote control. These are different sizes, seen in comparison to a Bud Bottle. Just basing looks on this alone, I think bigger is better.

Here we have the 250% version extending his neck up. Either the shelf comes down, the neck gets longer, or we cover the approach and the grab in two different shots.
